‘With love from me to Shrew’. Beatlemania returns to Shropshire

It may be over fifty years since the Beatles performed in Shropshire, but the love of the fab four still resides in the hearts of many county residents and this September two very special events will bring Beatlemania back to Shropshire.

From the 15th to the 22nd September The Old Market Hall, Shrewsbury will be screening the latest Beatles biopic. Directed by Ron Howard ‘The Beatles: Eight Days A Week’ focuses on the first four years of The Beatles' career and explores how John, Paul, George and Ringo came together and how they took the world by storm.  The film also offers never before seen footage of the group as well as recent interviews with members of the band and the people around them.

The film will be shown from Thursday 15th September until Thursday 22nd September. Those attending the opening night are in for an extra special treat, as they will be able to experience an extended ‘Red Carpet’ version of the film, which will include a live stream of the films premier, interviews with the stars on stage, and twenty minutes of exclusive restored concert footage of the fab four.

‘Lennon: Through a Glass Onion’ offers something for those wishing to enjoy the live experience and will be at Theatre Severn on Friday 23rd September. Described as part concert and part biographical play, the show features over thirty of the songs penned by John Lennon, including those penned alongside Paul McCartney’s which are sure to delight Beatles fans.

Donning the trademark circular spectacles is Liverpool born Daniel Taylor. County residents may recognise actor Daniel as he has visited the venue before, playing both Sammy in the touring version of the musical ‘Blood Brothers’, and played the title role in the comic drama ‘The Tommy Cooper Story’ at the Theatre.

Daniel is a highly respected musician in his own right and cites The Beatles as one of his greatest influences, he has even been fortunate enough to play The Cavern Club Liverpool recently, having reached the final of the ‘Linda McCartney Acoustic Songwriter’ competition.

Daniel will be joined on stage by Stewart D’Arrieta, who will be overseeing musical production of the show. Stewart has toured with ‘Glass Onion’ all over the world, including its off Broadway debut in New York. Stewart also had the honour of being selected as musical director for ‘The White Album Concert’ recently which was staged at Sydney Opera House.

‘The Beatles: Eight Days A Week’ will be at The Old Market Hall from Thursday 15th September until Thursday 22nd September and tickets are available via the venue's website. Lennon: Through a Glass Onion will be at Theatre Severn on Friday 23rd September, tickets are available by contacting the venues Box Office on 01743 281 281 or via their website.
