An international projection artist is inviting members of the public to be part of a spectacular nightly light show that will transform the exterior of Shrewsbury Market Hall into a flurrying snowstorm in the run up to Christmas.

Andy McKeown, whose work has appeared all over the world, is to project the constantly changing storm onto the front of the building in Mardol Head.

Saturday 6th December will be an opportunity to explore the town's eclectic mix of independent businesses, quirky and original shops, cafés and bars during one of the busiest trading periods of the year.

Talented local musician Gareth Rhys Jones, the man behind the music for the 'Christmas in Shrewsbury' video, will be releasing the full version of 'This is your Christmas' on Monday 1st December.

Available on iTunes, Amazon and other online retailers, the release coincides with the launch of the Shrewsbury Business Improvement District's (BID) latest video 'Christmas in Shrewsbury'.

A unique lighting show which launched earlier this month on the wall of Shrewsbury's Museum and Art Gallery will return on Wednesday 17th December in time for the annual Carols in the Square event. Projection light artist Andy McKeown will air Shrewsbury BID's popular Christmas film as part of the Christmas themed lighting show, which starts at approximately 4.30pm.

Shrewsbury Business Improvement District (BID) will air its first Christmas film on Wednesday 19th November as part of a unique lighting show projected onto the front of the Museum and Art Gallery. The two minute film, which will be aired at 6.35pm following the Christmas Lights Switch-On, will form part of a fifteen-minute toy themed projection by new media light artist Andy McKeown.

Shrewsbury's festive season is set to kick start with a bang next week as the town's Christmas Cracker event returns, bigger and better than ever.

The 2014 switch-on is being organised by Shrewsbury Town Council, in partnership with Shrewsbury Shopping Centres, and is sponsored by Shrewsbury Business Improvement District (BID).

It's official, Shrewsbury has the greenest fingers in the UK. After a two-week tour of the country, assessing more than 90,000 acres of public green space, Britain in Bloom judges have crowned the town Champion of Champions.

The accolade is the highest bestowed in the Bloom campaign, which is governed by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). The results of the competition were announced at a ceremony in Bristol on Thursday evening.

A spooktacular Halloween market and funfair will return to Shrewsbury later this month. The event, run by Asterley Events which also manages some of the popular markets in the town's Square, will take place in the Quarry on October 25.
