Model-dancers from top TV shows X Factor and Britain's Got Talent will be entertaining shoppers when a fast-paced fashion show hits the Shrewsbury Shopping Centres on Saturday 2nd May. It's part of a quickfire six-hour Pop-up Fashion event at the Darwin and Pride Hill centres which will feature four models and a host of retailers from stores in both centres.

Shrewsbury is showing its practical support for tourism by introducing two new coach drop off and pick up points which are more convenient for the town centre.

Coach drivers can now set-down visitors in bays at Dogpole and Shoplatch, which are closer to Shrewsbury's shops and Museum and Art Gallery, before parking their vehicles free of charge in the long stay coach parking areas at Frankwell and Abbey Foregate.

The Mayor of Shrewsbury hit the airwaves in a 'Guess Who' style competition on BBC Radio 1 this afternoon.

Councillor Beverley Baker featured on the 'Mayor of Where' game, a regular feature on Greg James' afternoon show, in which Greg and newsreader Chris Smith have to guess which town the secret guest is Mayor of.

The pair picked up on an early clue given by Councillor Baker about Charles Darwin and pretty soon the penny began to drop.

The great and the good of Shrewsbury have been officially recognised by the town's Mayor. Around 50 of the town's most dedicated citizens and organisations received honours from Mayor Councillor Beverley Baker at this year's Mayor's Awards ceremony, which took place at the Guildhall last night.

Councillor Baker said everyone who had received an award had played a key part in helping make Shrewsbury a special place to live, work and visit.

Shrewsbury BID is reaching the end of the first year and its first annual meeting will be held on Thursday 14th May 2015 at 6pm at the Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery. At the annual meeting the Shrewsbury BID team will discuss the annual report, the progress that Shrewsbury BID has made in the first year and will look ahead to priorities for year two. Held at the West Mid Showground in Shrewsbury over the first weekend in July (3rd, 4th and 5th) The Big Art Show aims to provide a showcase for artists using a diverse range formats and presentation through the use of paint, sculpture, jewellery, glass, ceramics, furniture design, photography and performance art.
