A century of military photographic images goes on show at Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery from Monday 19th October 2015 in a new exhibition by the Defence School of Photography. Defence Through the Lens will run until 10th January 2016.

Newgate, the homeware brand renowned for its iconic, design-led clocks as sold in Liberty, Harrods and Conran's, have unveiled a short film to coincide with the launch of their new unisex watch collection, and Shrewsbury's historic town centre is the star of the show. Picture perfect Shrewsbury provided a wealth of visually stunning backdrops for director and cinematographer Robbie Meade of Mount Creative to choose from when shooting.

Representatives from a range of organisations gathered at University Centre Shrewsbury's Rowley's House base this week to share information, views and ideas on the development of the institution. Councillors, members of Shrewsbury Town Centre Residents' Association, Shrewsbury Civic Society, West Mercia Police, Shrewsbury Students' Union, University of Chester and Shropshire Council staff were among those who joined together at the event on Wednesday 9th September, 2015.

Businesses and local residents met at a public consultation session last night, Future Swimming Provision in Shrewsbury, where Shrewsbury BID voiced feedback from its 500 members on the proposed changes for the town centre site. The event at the Prince Rupert Hotel was organised by the Quarry Swimming and Fitness Forum, and chaired by BBC Radio Shropshire's, Eric Smith.

The Shrewsbury Business Improvement District (BID) was crowned in a new Heart of England In Bloom award category held in Rugby today, winning Gold for their horticultural achievement, environmental responsibility and community participation. Shrewsbury BID joined community groups, towns and villages from across the region at the prestigious award ceremony celebrating floral achievements in the Heart of England.

People are invited to find out more about University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS) from the leadership team at a drop-in event next week. Anyone can stop by at Rowley's House in Shrewsbury town centre on Wednesday 16th September, any time between 6pm and 8pm to speak to senior members of the team.

Residents, people interested in studying at UCS, members of community groups, business representatives and others are urged to come along to meet the team, share ideas and ask any questions.

Jet Rotmans; A Tale of Two Cities - Shrewsbury and Zutphen

An exhibition by an artist from Shrewsbury's twin town of Zutphen will launch in late September at Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery. 'Jet Rotmans; A Tale of Two Cities - Shrewsbury and Zutphen', will open to the public on 28th September, with an official launch by Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Miles Kenny, on 1st October.

Evolution Pantomimes Theatre Severn

Theatre Severn, in partnership with Evolution Pantomimes are looking for girls to be part of the Juvenile Ensemble for their spectacular pantomime, Dick Whittington, which will run at the theatre this Christmas. Registration will take place at 3.45pm on Tuesday 8th September at The Priory School, Longden Road, Shrewsbury, SY3 9EE.

Shropshire Council has made some important changes to the options report for the provision of public swimming (and fitness) facilities in Shrewsbury. Strategic Leisure Ltd were appointed by the council to undertake a thorough and independent analysis of the shortlist of options for swimming provision in Shrewsbury. The report was completed by Strategic Leisure Ltd in June 2015.

Shropshire Council is currently consulting on a number of different swimming pool options in Shrewsbury.

Shrewsbury Film

The new funding award will allow Shrewsbury Film to launch their seasonal programme of films in September. Shrewsbury Film, formerly Shrewsbury Film Society, has today announced a funding award from Film Hub North West Central, part of the BFI UK-wide Film Audience Network that aims to bring independent and British film to UK audiences.
