Shrewsbury Business Improvement District (BID) have launched their latest Christmas production on YouTube today, which showcases the medieval Shropshire town of Shrewsbury full of festive spirit. The video features a seven year old boy called Finn who is out and about with his family in snowy Shrewsbury for the Christmas Lights Switch-on.

An exciting exhibition that brings together key Viking burial findings, objects that explore everyday life in Britain 1,000 years ago, and the latest archaeological research techniques opens at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery on 8th February 2016. 'Valhalla - Life and Death in Viking Age Britain' is a touring exhibition by The JORVIK Group and York Archaeological Trust.

Rehearsals have started and tickets are now on sale for Marches Theatre Company's (MTC) forthcoming production of Arabian Nights. The production is being held at the Wightman Theatre in Shrewsbury from 11th December to 3rd January 2016.

Directed by Sian Murray and adapted by Dominic Cooke, Arabian Nights celebrates the power of imagination and storytelling, told through a mixture of song, dance, puppetry and illusion.

Shrewsbury is to become one of Sainsbury's Waste less, Save More Discovery Communities as part of a national bid by the supermarket to drive down food waste. The town was one of only five across the UK to reach the final stages of Sainsbury's Waste Less, Save More campaign to become its zero food waste ambassador and was up against Swadlincote, Hinkley, Newcastle-under-lyme and Loughborough.

A University Centre Shrewsbury Professor is leading the way in the global prevention of heart disease. Professor John Buckley is sharing expertise on an international scale to help to stop heart disease and ensure people with the condition are given comprehensive support to recover.

The academic played an important role this autumn at China's largest annual cardiology conference, the Great Wall International Congress of Cardiology, in Beijing.

Shropshire Council has welcomed the early impact of Shrewsbury's new University Centre in the two months since the first undergraduates arrived to begin their studies. University Centre Shrewsbury welcomed its first undergraduates on schedule in September, after nearly two years of planning and preparation to make the University Centre a reality.
