Town Council staff who saved a baby girl from drowning after her pram was caught in a gust of wind and blown into the fast-flowing waters of the River Severn say they have been overwhelmed and humbled by the public's response to their bravery. James Williams and Andy Hill leapt into the freezing water last Friday (13th Feb) when the six-month old girl's pram was blown away from her grandmother and into the river.

The shop, opening Tuesday 17th February, will house hand-picked vintage and retro clothing, accessories and gifts from the fifties to the nineties at affordable prices to suit all styles and sizes.

Romance is in the air in Shrewsbury as couples are invited to seal their love in time for Valentine's Day using a one-off 'love lock'. The love lock craze, which started in Paris and has now swept the globe, is being embraced by Shrewsbury BID who will this week launch a competition to find 25 romantic couples to lock their love. Winners of the competition will win a red, heart-shaped padlock, which they can add their names to.

30 Government officers and business representatives from Northern Ireland descended on Shrewsbury yesterday to see how Shrewsbury's Business Improvement District (BID) is making a difference in its first year of operation. The BID team, led by BID Manager Kirsten Henly, treated the delegation to a traditional Shrewsbury welcome with a guided tour of the town led by town crier Martin Wood, as well as a meeting and dinner at the Prince Rupert.

Local Musical Theatre company Get Your Wigle On return to Theatre Severn's Main Auditorium with the explosive movie musical Footloose next month. Following the sell-out productions in 2014 of Grease, Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserables and Oliver! and next month the company turn their attention to the eighties and the popular musical adaptation of the Kevin Bacon film.
