Shrewsbury illuminated in solidarity with Paris

Shrewsbury's Market Hall was illuminated with a Tricolore tribute to the victims of the Paris attacks. Joining similar displays of support at famous landmarks across the world, Shrewsbury's Market Hall was illuminated with the French flag by projection lighting specialist Andy McKeown.

University Centre Shrewsbury off to a healthy start with first placement

University Centre Shrewsbury's first work-based learning placement is underway as students play a growing part in Shropshire businesses and services. Health and Exercise Science undergraduate Christian Heenan is the first student to start a placement in a county organisation as part of his degree studies.

Free Wednesday night parking in Shrewsbury in run-up to Christmas 2015

Shropshire Council is offering shoppers in Shrewsbury free parking on Wednesday nights in the run-up to Christmas, starting on 18 November - the night of the town's Christmas Cracker and Lights Switch On event. On that day, and every Wednesday evening until Christmas, people can park for free in the following Shropshire Council-owned long-stay car parks from 4pm.

 

Going, going, gunged - messy fun-filled afternoon planned for Children in Need

A gunging for staff, cake sale, leg waxing and balloon popping for prizes will be among the activities taking place at University Centre Shrewsbury's Guildhall to raise money for Children in Need. Students have planned an afternoon of fundraising for the BBC charity at the learning and research base on Wednesday November 11th, open to all.

Shropshire history project brought back to life with University Centre support

More than 200 people gathered at University Centre Shrewsbury's learning and research base for the Shropshire re-launch of "England's greatest community history project". The University Centre hosted the Victoria County History (VCH) Shropshire re-launch on Saturday October 31, at Guildhall in Frankwell Quay, bringing together both academics and amateur history enthusiasts from across England.
