The next Severn Loop Local Forum is on Tuesday 19th January 2016 at 7pm at The Gateway Education and Arts Centre, Chester Street, Shrewsbury, SY1 1ND. Agenda items include an update on the progress of the Shrewsbury Integrated Transport Package, local policing update, and information about the "Alternative Giving" scheme.

Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery has a brand new season of exhibitions and events to entice visitors though its doors during the early part of 2016. From the history and restoration of the Shrewsbury and Newport Canal, the dramatic life and death of Viking invaders, the Boys Dancing promenade dance performance, and the world of Shropshire author Mary Webb of "Gone to Earth" fame, there is plenty of variety and interest.

A Shrewsbury salon has launched a campaign to help children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or alopecia. Toni and Guy in Castle Street is urging people with long hair to get a completely new look by having it cut off - all for charity.

Shropshire Council has released a summary of the high level key findings following its recent consultation to gather people's views on the future of swimming in Shrewsbury. The five-month consultation, which closed on Friday 30th October 2015, received nearly 2,000 responses from individuals, partners, clubs, groups, councillors and businesses across the county on the following seven different site options:

Young people in Shrewsbury will have access to a range of clubs and facilities following the official launch of Shrewsbury Town Council's youth provision later this month. This follows funding from Shropshire Council, which has commissioned the Town Council to provide a range of services.

People in Shrewsbury are invited to have a ball while raising funds for two local good causes. Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Miles Kenny, will host a charity ball later this month in aid of his two nominated charities; The Lingen Davies Cancer Fund and The Shrewsbury Ark.

The event takes place at the Lord Hill Hotel on 22nd January from 7.30pm.

University Centre Shrewsbury and Energize

University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS) and Energize Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin have cemented their partnership to enhance sporting and research opportunities for students, staff and the community. Energize, the county sports partnership, has been supporting the development of UCS for more than 12 months and the team is based at Guildhall, the Higher Education Institution's learning and research base.
