A University Centre Shrewsbury academic will be asking if the newspaper headline ‘bling, booze and groupie sex’ is an accurate description of Lord Byron’s life at the poet’s ancestral home.

Dr James Pardoe will be discussing Newstead Abbey, through the eyes of the Romantic poet, George Gordon Noel, sixth Baron Byron, and his contemporaries, compared with how the house is interpreted today.

A new, improved, Whitchurch to Shrewsbury bus service will begin operating tomorrow, Wednesday 1st June 2016.

The 511 service will be operated by GHA Coaches, who have been awarded a contract by Shropshire Council following a competitive tendering exercise.

One of Shrewsbury’s flagship retailers is celebrating 10 successful years of trading in the town.

Audio visual specialists Bang & Olufsen opened a showroom in the High Street in 2006 after directors Roger Boyle and Richard Terry made a decision to relocate to the town from the south of England.

The couple behind a well-known Shrewsbury restaurant and bar have announced that they have bought one of the county’s most renowned country pubs.

Clare and Graham Jenkins, owners of Henry Tudor House off Wyle Cop, have acquired the New Inn at Baschurch, north Shropshire.

The pub is listed in the Good Pub Guide and recommended by a range of other organisations such as the AA, the Campaign for Real Ale and Alastair Sawday.
