The sound of Adele comes to Shrewsbury this week – in the form of a tribute night staged by a rising local talent.

Libby Gliksman will be performing songs by one of the UK’s biggest stars at a special evening on Saturday 30th July.

Shrewsbury’s finest punk band will be debuting tracks from their third album at a special live acoustic set at a local record store this weekend.

‘Someone Else’ will be appearing at Tubeway Records in Shrewsbury Shopping’s Pride Hill Centre this Saturday 30th July, to launch their latest album, Power Chord Poetry.

A handful of 2000-year-old precious gold coins are to go on display in Shropshire for the first time on Monday 1st August 2016 after being acquired by Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery.

The seven gold coins date back to AD20-50 and are the first recorded Iron Age coin hoard from Shropshire. They were unearthed in 2015 near Claverley by a group of metal detectorists.

Economic development and the challenges for Shrewsbury in the 21st century will be the subject of a free lecture at University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS) this month.

Professor Tim Wheeler, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Chester, will present the address at Guildhall, UCS’s learning and research base, on Wednesday 27th July, from 7pm to 8.30pm.

The owners of the Charles Darwin Shopping Centre (Standard Life Investments, advised by UKCPT) have announced that improvement works have started in preparation for the new Primark anchor store, the project also includes upgrading of the centre’s ground floor and atrium.

Thanks to support from Film Hub North West Central, the Hive in Shrewsbury is planning to reach wider audiences by introducing an exciting film programme for families, young people and those with special needs. Within the programme, the Hive aims to bring exciting and engaging films that people already love or may not have seen before, including some international releases, animations and short films.

Following on from its success as a drop-in centre for those in need, Shrewsbury Ark has been given a grant from Shropshire Council to go out into the community and locate and offer support to rough sleepers, with the aim to deliver on the concept of “no second night out in the cold”.

Libby Gliksman will be performing songs by one of the UK’s biggest stars at a special evening on 30th July.

The ‘Adele Unplugged’ event at the Wightman Theatre in The Square is being sponsored by Acoustic Boutique, where Libby works.
