Shropshire History Day – a showcase for the history and heritage of the county – takes place at Shirehall in Shrewsbury on Saturday 15th October, from 10.30am to 4pm.

Organised by Shropshire Council’s Shropshire Archives and the Friends of Shropshire Archives this special, free, event is a great opportunity to investigate and share information about Shropshire’s fantastic history and heritage.

If you’re looking for a genuinely spooky Halloween then Shrewsbury has to be on your list - as a medieval market town, it’s one of the most haunted places in the UK. 

Newly opened to the public, the famous and feared Dana Prison is launching a Halloween-themed zombie chase - ‘Lockdown III – Sanitorium’. Work out the maze of riddles and puzzles within the prison as you are chased by a pack of blood thirsty zombies.

A new website has been launched for a Shropshire retailer - one of the largest specialist pen shops in the country.

Write Here in Shrewsbury’s High Street has joined forces with another Shrewsbury business, digital marketing agency Verve, to develop the new site.

Giant images of stained glass works by Shrewsbury-born artist Margaret Rope will be projected onto the front of the town’s Museum & Art Gallery on the evening of Tuesday 25th October between 7pm and 9pm.

A Shropshire photographer is taking a shot at raising money for charity with a unique fundraising angle.

Paul Wilkinson, who owns Twig’s Branch Photography, will be undertaking a marathon to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Of sorts. There are no running shoes or training schedules in this picture.

Instead, Paul will be undertaking a ‘boudoir marathon’ – 12 photo shoots, involving 12 different women, in 12 hours.

An event at University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS) led by an academic with wide-ranging commercial experience at global financial and business institutions will delve into the world of digital technologies.

Daniel Clark will present the free talk on ‘Being Digital: What Are Digital Literacy and Identity?’ at Guildhall, UCS’s learning and research base, from 7pm to 8.30pm on Wednesday 19th October 2016.

Shrewsbury’s award-winning indoor market will be holding a rare Sunday opening next month for shoppers to get a head start on their Christmas shopping.

The Sunday Shopping Showcase will see the market open from 10am until 2.30pm on 16th October.

Wace Morgan Solicitors, one of Shrewsbury’s leading law firms, has celebrated the first anniversary of a major expansion.

Staff got together for an informal summer social event when a specially-commissioned birthday cake was cut to mark a successful 12 months since merging its three offices in town into one base in St Mary’s Street last September.

A range of quirky products produced by a Shrewsbury woman are proving to be best sellers, with county people and visitors alike.

Linda Edwards, an illustrator based in Quarry Place, launched ‘Sunny Side Art’ to celebrate the town she loves and is expanding the selection of products every year.

Shrewsbury-based hearing loss charity Signal has been chosen to make a national appeal on BBC Radio 4, which will be aired on Sunday 25th September at 7.54am just before the 8 o’clock news.

Broadcaster Sybil Ruscoe will present the appeal, which will feature Signal’s work supporting deaf and hearing impaired children in Malawi.
