As part of their 60th Season of Music and Arts, Shrewsbury School are delighted to be hosting multi-award winning British Jazz Musician Alan Barnes and his Octet this weekend to present their new performance ‘A Jazz Christmas Carol.’

Shrewsbury Festival of Literature kicks off Nov 25th

Shrewsbury’s first Festival of Literature opens on Friday November 25 featuring best-selling authors, storytellers, performers and poets from across the UK.

The three-day programme will see events held at 11 venues all over Shrewsbury ranging from talks by literary prize winners to theatrical performances, workshops and even a poet in an ambulance.

Original Shrewsbury Christmas Video teased with 30 second film

As the countdown to the festive season starts in Shrewsbury, Shrewsbury BID this afternoon launches a 30 second teaser for its annual Christmas video on originalshrewsbury.co.uk and its social media channels.

The trailer is a first for Shrewsbury BID and will play out online ahead of the launch of the 90 second video on Monday 21st November.

Lottie the dog immortalised in mural

Some of Shrewsbury’s best-loved characters, landmarks and even four-legged friends have been immortalised on a 12-metre long mural.

The colourful creation is the work of Linda Edwards, an illustrator and artist who was commissioned to undertake the project.

House builder on target with darts backing

Shropshire house builders Galliers Homes have scored a bullseye with their sponsorship of a charity darts competition.

Galliers has donated £500 to the event, being organised by the Severn Darts Organisation on 20th November in aid of Hope House Hospice.

Top salon appoints new manager

A top Shropshire hairdressing salon has appointed a new manager.

Alex Webb (23), takes on the role at the Shrewsbury branch of Toni & Guy, part of the global hairdressing group.

Hairdressing for six years, Alex, who attended Llanfair Caereinion High School, started his career as a trainee at Toni & Guy in Hereford.
