Semi-Toned, an all-male acapella group from Exeter University have been crowned the ‘best in Britain,’ after winning the finals of Gareth Malone’s The Choir on BBC Two.  Shrewsbury School are delighted to be hosting the group in concert in early 2017.

A talented Shropshire illustrator with a love of horses has combined her passions to create a new range of cards and gifts.

Isobel Bushell has launched a selection of greetings cards and pictures all with an equine theme.

The Christmas cards, which are now available at Write Here in Shrewsbury’s High Street, have been created with her personal experiences in mind.

Live music, a movie and a Narnia chocolate tea party will be part of the late night festive celebrations being staged by Shrewsbury Market Hall on Saturday 10th December.

The market’s stalls, cafes and restaurants will be open until 10pm and there will be performances by the indie rock band the Cartoon Bandits and disc jockey DJ Buzzword.

Larger than life festive characters will soon spring up in Shrewsbury town centre with visitors invited to join The Nutcracker Trail.

Ten 6ft 5ins high Nutcracker Kings will be placed at different locations when the trail opens on Tuesday 13th December. Each one has its own name and the challenge will be to find all ten, write the names on a trail card and enter a draw for the chance to win an iPad Mini.

Start-up enterprises to long-established names will be among those showcasing their individual appeal and customer service as part of a national campaign to celebrate and promote small businesses.

A Shropshire law firm has launched a campaign to encourage people to think about their ‘digital assets’.

Wace Morgan Solicitors, based in Shrewsbury, is urging people to consider what should happen to their online accounts and electronic files when they die.

The firm has developed a new information leaflet and ‘digital asset log’ for clients to complete as part of the campaign.

A long-established Shrewsbury shop has closed its doors, donating its final stock to a county charity.

Children’s clothing specialist Pied Piper, which has been a fixture in Milk Street for four decades, made the presentation to Hope House Children’s Hospices.

Caroline Francis and her sister Helen made the decision to retire from the shop after being at the helm for 20 years.

Shropshire house builders Galliers Homes has announced a record-breaking sports sponsorship package.

The Shrewsbury-based company, which develops housing schemes across the county, has pledged £45,000 to boost girls’ handball.

The three-year deal, a joint venture with its sister company Cameron Homes of Staffordshire, will support the development of the sport in schools and clubs in the region and comes on the back of an initial £25,000 sponsorship programme.

Over the past few years, Shrewsbury has been lit up over the Christmas period by festive illuminations on the Market Hall.

The illuminations this year are set for a twist with the county’s broadband programme, Connecting Shropshire, and Shropshire Council supporting the festive tradition with a range of fun and interesting projections.
