NCP Shrewsbury, free parking

NCP Wyle Cop car park is offering three days of free parking starting today (17th February) during its major renovation work on the site as a thank you to businesses and customers during the renovation period.

Susan Winmill, NCP Business Manager for the West Midlands, said: “We’ve been busy working on the improvements over the past few weeks and we want to thank everyone for their patience with free car parking during half term.”

Mari Wilson, who had a string of hit singles in the 1980s, is bringing her ‘Ready Steady Girls’ tour to Henry Tudor House in Wyle Cop on 13th March.

The innovative dance group's new show 'Bridging the Void' pays tribute to the sunrise, and they want Shropshire audiences to get involved.

Academics from across Australia, Wales and England will join with University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS) tutors to launch their new book which provides an introduction to mental health at each stage of life.

The publishing of Mental Health Across the Lifespan will be celebrated at a free event on Tuesday 8th March, held in partnership with Routledge Publishers at UCS's learning and research base.

Humanists believe one can lead a good life and be a good person without religion.

The British Humanist Association, with the "happy humanist" logo, is the national charity working on behalf of non-religious people who seek to live ethical and fulfilling lives on the basis of reason and humanity. Dr Simon Nightingale will be giving a public talk - "An Introduction to Humanism" on Thursday 17th March at 7.30 pm at the University Centre Shrewsbury, Guildhall.

Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery is celebrating Charles Darwin's birthday with a new exhibit kindly donated by local model maker, Ron Batson.

Ron visited the Museum just after it moved to the Music Hall and offered to build a 1:64 scale model impression of HMS Beagle for the new Darwin display. The original Beagle was built in 1820 at Woolwich Dockyard in London.

Toni & Guy in Castle Street has just received a silver standard certificate in the Green Achiever scheme as a result of its first audit.

The initiative offers environmental accreditation to UK businesses looking to boost their green credentials and reduce their environmental impact.

Plans to boost Shrewsbury town centre by reducing traffic and making it easier for drivers and pedestrians to get into and around the town go on display this Friday 12th February 2016.

The plans are part of the Shrewsbury integrated transport package (SITP) which aims to stop drivers using the town centre as a through route, and to make better use of the town's outer and inner ring roads instead.
