Arts and festivals network event at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery

Artists, community and voluntary art organisations, and anyone interested in the arts, are invited to attend an Arts Network Event on Wednesday 14th December 2016 at Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery from 6pm.

Shrewsbury artists open their studios

Two Shrewsbury artists will be opening their studios to visitors next week.

Linda Edwards and Beverley Fry, who are both renowned for their distinctive and colourful work, will be hosting the events on 3rd December.

Linda, who has worked for over 20 years as an illustrator, artist and designer, will be showcasing new paintings in oil and watercolour and mixed media at her studio in Quarry Place.

Shropshire Council set to agree consultation into future of Shrewsbury pitch and putt course

Shropshire Council’s Cabinet will be asked to hold a consultation into the future of Shrewsbury’s pitch and putt golf course, when they meet next week.

Owned by Shropshire Council, the pitch and putt sits beside the main golf course at Meole Brace, but usage of the facility has declined from a peak of 2,590 visits in 2011 to below 1,600 this year.

Shropshire Council’s Shropshire Archives has been awarded Archive Service Accreditation, the UK quality standard which recognises good performance in all areas of archive service delivery.

Telecoms expert welcomes technology investment

A Shropshire telecoms expert has welcomed the announcement of a major government investment in digital infrastructure.

Matt Sandford, who runs Shrewsbury-based Pure Telecom, was responding to the Autumn Statement by Chancellor Philip Hammond, which includes the launch of a new Digital Infrastructure Investment Fund, to be worth around £1bn in total.
