Staff from a Shropshire building company have been presented with a trophy as champion charity fund raisers.

The cup has been handed over to Galliers Homes of Shrewsbury from Macmillan Cancer Support, who organise the annual coracle world championship race in Shrewsbury.

Employees from Galliers competed in this autumn’s race on the River Severn and donated a total of £3,269 in sponsorship - more money than any other of the 40 teams.

Shrewsbury residents will have a chance to chat about their favourite part of town at an event this weekend.

A ‘celebration of autumn’ is being hosted by two creative local businesswomen at the Market Hall on Saturday 22nd October.

Linda Edwards, the artist behind a range of Shrewsbury-themed products, is showcasing her work at Thoughts, a gift shop in the Market Hall, and is asking for ideas for new illustrations.

Shrewsbury Shopping will be getting an exciting new addition to its fashion offering this month as the centre welcomes New Look Men to the ever-growing range of stores.

Once open, the 1,907 sq ft store will be the 15th standalone shop for New Look Men in the UK and will create approximately 12 jobs for the people of Shrewsbury. Work is well underway on the unit with the store set to open in late October.

Jailhouse Tours took over the Dana Prison in August 2015, initially on a 12-month agreement to operate tours and events, which was later extended to the end of 2016. 

We are now very pleased to confirm that after discussions with the owners of the prison, The Osborne Group, that Jailhouse Tours will be staying at the Dana prison until the end of 2017.

A former science teacher who writes poetry as a hobby has hit on a winning formula with her Shrewsbury themed Christmas carol chosen to star in Shrewsbury’s annual Christmas video.

Claire Bryers, a 31-year-old mother of three from Copthorne in Shrewsbury, won the competition organised by Shrewsbury BID to create locally-themed lyrics to the seasonal classic, Silent Night.

There’s now less than a week to go until Shrewsbury Market Hall open its doors for an extra day of shopping and feasting.

The award-winning market will be holding a rare Sunday opening on 16th October for shoppers to get a head start on their Christmas shopping. 

The Sunday Shopping Showcase will see a host of cosmopolitan cafes, artisan producers and traditional stalls open from 10am until 2.30pm.
