On Wednesday 17 May 2017, Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery will come to life for Museum’s at Night.

The museum will open its doors between 4pm and 9pm for an exciting, programme of art, live music and family friendly events.

You will be able to enter the clock room and become part of its mechanism as internationally renowned media artist, Andy McKeown turns the museum’s special exhibition gallery into a stunning, immersive light and sound show.

Shrewsbury gets ready as the purr-fect award winning musical CATS gets set to hit Theatre Severn stage next month.

Following runs in the West End and Broadway, a major UK tour, a live film recording and multiple cast recordings Get Your Wigle On’s adult musical theatre group are delighted to be able to bring this magical musical to the stage.

Shrewsbury Market Hall is hosting a Lifestyle Festival on Saturday May 20 to showcase its array of arts, crafts, food and drink and boutique businesses.

The festival is taking place as part of the venue’s participation in the national Love Your Local Market campaign, being held from May 17 to 31, to celebrate British markets.

In the light of the recent victory for Emmanuel Macron in the race for the French presidency, a talk at 1pm on Wednesday May 17 will explore key political debates that have put France in the global spotlight.

In ‘From Battlefield to Burkini: A Journey into Franco-African History’, Professor Claire Griffiths will invite the audience to travel back through four centuries of French history in Africa to examine the roots of France’s role in today’s world.

There was a 9% increase in the number of people attending shows at Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury between 1 April 2016 and 31 March 2017, latest figures show.

This follows a previous increase of 10% in 2014/15 and 6% in 2015/16.

In total, 185,264 people visited the theatre in the year 2016/17, with 60,019 (32%) of those visiting from outside Shropshire.

Independent businesses turned out to support the launch of a new Independent Retailers’ Forum at Shrewsbury’s new Acoustic Boutique showroom on High Street this week.

Shrewsbury’s first Independent Retailers’ Forum is a coalition set up by Shrewsbury BID to support traders in the town centre with advice on free training, business cost savings, networking opportunities and events.
