Waiters at the popular late night food and drink event at Shrewsbury’s Market Hall will be sporting stylish new aprons depicting scenes from around the town.

The aprons have been designed by local illustrator and artist Linda Edwards and will be showcased by some of the staff at the open evening on November 4.

They are part of her Sunny Side Art collection, which also includes cards, ceramics and pictures.

Poetry lovers are invited to a free event at University Centre Shrewsbury to find out more about the differences between reading poems in private and public.

Dr Bill Hughes will lead the event, which is part performance and part discussion, at Guildhall in Frankwell Quay on Wednesday October 11, from 1pm.

Two top executives from prestigious European companies were in Shropshire recently to attend an event at a leading county retailer.

Acoustic Boutique, one of Shrewsbury’s largest independent shops, hosted a successful ‘sound and vision’ evening at its High Street store.

The UK managing director of premium German television company Loewe, Adam Whyte, was amongst the guests, as was Steve Downey of international brand Bose.

Organisers of the highly successful Shrewsbury International Comedy Festival have announced the dates for next year’s event – extending the Festival length & adding venues in the process.

The Festival (SICFest), which this year provided 15 shows over several venues in town, will take place Thursday to Sunday, 19th-22nd July 2018.

A special Shropshire concert staged by rising local talent Libby Glinksman boosted a charity by almost £1,400.

The Shrewsbury singer performed at the ‘Tribute to Adele’ evening at the Wightman Theatre in the town recently.

A total of £1,339 was collected for the Breast Cancer Now charity as a result of the event.

Tina Boyle, a member of the Breast Cancer Now Shrewsbury support group, said that they were extremely grateful to Libby for offering to stage the show.

On World Mental Health Day October 10th, The Hive in Belmont, Shrewsbury is hosting a free half day Youth Mental Health Training workshop in partnership with Musical Communities from 9AM – 1PM to coincide with their Mental Health Awareness drop-in afternoon. This workshop is to help provide and support anyone who teaches, works, cares for or lives with young people, including young people aged 16+.
