A Shropshire business is celebrating being awarded ‘Superbrand’ status.

Toni & Guy, one of the world’s leading hairdressing groups, with a base in Castle Street, Shrewsbury, can now use the Consumer Superbrand logo for 2017.

This marks the company's 10th year of receiving this prestigious accolade on top of already being awarded ‘Coolbrand’ status for the fifth time for 2016/2017.

A solicitor who is also an equestrian expert is riding high after joining one of Shropshire’s largest legal firms.

Lizzie Hughes, vice president of the Shropshire Law Society, has been recruited by Wace Morgan Solicitors.

She will strengthen the family team at the firm’s Shrewsbury head office and Newtown office.

A talk on Friday 17 March by a respected death educator will examine the benefits of teaching young people about this most challenging of topics. Dr Judith Wester of CEDAR (Community Education in Death Awareness) will look at what death education is, before examining the problems commonly associated with early childhood loss. She will also present a review of the findings of a case study, Life Lessons, which was produced in collaboration with West Mercia’s Police and Crime Commissioner.

A new video capturing the essence of Shrewsbury student life is set to go live today. The video, which was developed by Rachael Jones of University Centre Shrewsbury and produced by videographer Aaron Child, takes viewers on a visual journey from dawn to dusk, and features students, university staff, and the beautiful setting of Shropshire’s county town.

Independent specialist consultant, Mark Pilsbury, aged 55, has launched Stag Capital Finance after 25 years at the head the Syan Group, an IT firm with a £40 million turnover.

A well-known Shropshire artist has been awarded one of the prizes in a prestigious national competition.

Linda Edwards, of Shrewsbury, has received the accolade in the Royal Watercolour Society’s contemporary watercolour competition.

Not only were two of Linda’s paintings chosen to be exhibited in the society’s annual competition show, being staged in London, but she was singled out for one of the sponsor’s awards.
