A temporarily vacant shop in Shrewsbury town centre is being put to creative use with a focus on a talented Midlands’ photographer.

The changing gallery of inspirational nature and landscape photographs by Wolverhampton-based Lindsey Bucknor OBE is on display in the window of the shop on Wyle Cop.

People have been asking when the pay and display parking machines will accept the new £1 coin. 

In Shrewsbury, all of the on-street pay and display parking machines, plus the machines at the Bridge Street, Raven Meadows and St Austin’s Street car parks, now accept the new £1 coin and card payments.

Members of the public will get another chance to view Shrewsbury’s historic buildings and streets from on high when roof-top tours return to the town’s Market Hall for their fourth series.

The tours, led by town guide and local historian Stan Sedman, will be held on Friday July 7 and Saturday July 8.

“This will be the fourth time we have held these tours due to popular demand,” said Market Facilities Manager Kate Gittins.

Shrewsbury Market Hall is throwing open its doors for a Summer Celebration evening on Saturday 1st July when its restaurants, bars and other attractions will open until 10pm.

The event follows the huge success of its Lifestyle Festival and a deluge of requests by members of the public for more events like it.

The market’s cafes and restaurants, ranging from tapas and Thai to Chinese and seafood, will be serving up special menus and themed dishes.

Kevin Lockwood, Centre Manager of Shrewsbury Shopping Centres, will lead the business crime partnership which is run by members and administered by Shrewsbury Business Improvement District (BID).

Building firm staff who took part in a charity challenge recently have smashed their fund raising target.

The team from Shrewsbury-based Galliers Homes tackled a unique event which saw their physical and mental skills tested.

By competing in the Hope Challenge earlier this month against other construction firms from throughout the UK they hoped to raise £3,000 in sponsorship but have in fact collected £4,355.

A brand new Shrewsbury Gin Trail will prove just the tonic for artisan gin lovers when it debuts for the first time on Saturday June 24th as part of fringe events to the town’s annual Food Festival.

‘The Gincredible Shrewsbury Tour’, being brought to the town by Darren Tomkins, of the new Gindifferent Bar, will take people on a guided tour of venues specialising in craft gins across the town.
