Côte Restaurants launch new vegetarian food and drinks offering

Côte Restaurants, the UK's leading French Brasserie group, have launched a new vegetarian menu – proving that French restaurants can indeed be a great choice for vegetarians.

The decision to launch the new menu follows the extraordinary popularity of the vegetarian breakfast, which was introduced to Côte’s breakfast menu in June 2015, and now ranks as the second most ordered breakfast.

The new vegetarian à la carte menu contains all non-meat items from the main menus, with small tweaks where necessary, alongside dishes created especially for the menu.  Starters include French onion soup with a sourdough and melted mozzarella croute or wild mushrooms on toasted brioche.  For mains you can choose from a range of rustic dishes such as braised Puy lentils with roasted vegetables and poached egg or grilled spinach and cheddar sausages with Salardaise potatoes. The menu also features most of Côte’s full dessert menu, including their signature crème caramel and a decadently rich chocolate mousse.

What sets Côte’s vegetarian menu apart, is the decision to include a vegetarian wine list.  Recognising that many wines are traditionally made using non-vegetarian finings processes, Côte wanted to be able to offer a truly vegetarian experience. The resulting menu will allow Côte’s vegetarian guests to dine from a comprehensive menu, without the fear that any of their meal choices may not be suitable for a vegetarian diet.

Côte Restaurants’ CEO Alex Scrimgeour says “We noticed that we were getting an increasing number of requests for more choice for vegetarians and wanted to support the growing number of our guests who are either vegetarian or are choosing to reduce the amount of meat they eat.  We were able to make a few simple tweaks to some of our meat-free dishes to make them truly vegetarian and we are happy to be able to offer a wider choice to our guests.”

This is Côte’s second foray into specialist menus, having launched a gluten-free menu in 2016; with the new vegetarian menu Côte seeks to further broaden their appeal within the UK casual dining sector.
