Celebrate Darwin's Day in Shrewsbury

Shropshire Wildlife Trust is ensuring that Shrewsbury celebrates legendary forefather, Charles Darwin's 206th birthday, with its interactive fun-filled Darwin Festival. Held from the 8th - 22nd February, a whole fifteen days will be filled with trails and activities for adults and children to keep minds ticking with curiosity and something for everyone!

Darwin's Garden Official Opening

Relive Darwin's childhood as you follow the tours along 'Middle Walk' on Sunday 14th February, where the young Charles Darwin began to grow curious about the natural world and the mysterious wildlife within it. Starting out from Frankwell, the tours from (10am to 3.45pm) will reveal facts and uncover secrets about the Darwin family during the early 1800's, plus you can find out future plans for the site.

Darwin's Memorial Lecture: A 'Brilliant Blunder'

Head to the Theatre Severn on Sunday 15th February to explore the questions of Darwin's views on inheritance, with a memorial lecture by Dr Gregory Radick. Discover how Darwin came to think about inheritance and wow you friends with some mind boggling facts.

Half Term Fun

Will your child be the next science genius? Get the kids having fun whilst learning and taking part in Darwin's inquisitive experiments. Head down to the Shropshire Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre on Tuesday 17th February to create some mini explosions, or on Thursday 19th for some fossil fun. Start from Shrewsbury's Museum and Art Gallery and work your way around Darwin's past through a special Shrewsbury Guided Walk on Saturday 21st February. Find out some captivating facts about his childhood and even some naughty schoolboy antics.
