Mayor completes tandem bike ride

The Mayor of Shrewsbury marked his 65th birthday with a difference by saddling up for a charity tandem bike ride. Councillor Miles Kenny and Mayor's Officer Robert Handley completed the ride from Shrewsbury to Lake Vyrnwy and back - 65 miles - in less than six hours last Sunday. The duo were raising funds for the Mayor's chosen charities; Lingen Davies Cancer Fund and The Shrewsbury Ark.

Councillor Kenny said: "We did it! Big thanks to everyone who supported us on our tandem bike ride. Three hours there, two and a half back, and the weather was wonderful… a memorable birthday."

There is still time to make a donation via Just Giving or MyDonate.

Lingen Davies is a local charity committed to improving cancer services for the relief of cancer patients in Shropshire and Mid Wales, through the provision of specialist equipment and buildings. Over the years the charity has invested millions to improve the facilities for local cancer patients.

The Shrewsbury Ark is operated by the Shrewsbury Christian Association (SCCA) and provides a safe haven in the heart of the town, providing practical and emotional support for those in need or distress.
