Shrewsbury is leaving nothing to chance in Monopoly race

  • Shrewsbury monopoly

Shrewsbury BID is calling on businesses and local people to get behind Shrewsbury in the race to have its own version of the classic British board game Monopoly.

The makers of the board, Winning Moves UK, announced earlier in the week that Stratford-upon-Avon and Shrewsbury have been locked neck and neck in a West Midland race to 'Pass GO'.

Shrewsbury BID Executive Director Kirsten Henly said:

“A Shrewsbury version of this iconic board would be a great game to play and a real celebration of the town’s quirky streets and one-off character. There is still time for people to make this happen before the deadline on Monday.”

“We would like to thank the businesses who are already getting involved, including Moss Bros for the suit hire and the Giant Party Shop in Mardol, helping us raise the profile of this great competition for the town.”

Public votes for Shrewsbury can be emailed to [email protected].  Polls close at midnight on 29th February and an announcement of the winner will be made next month.

Winning Moves UK will be producing the game under license from MONOPOLY owners Hasbro. The board will hit shop shelves this October and showcase 22 prized property landmarks from the winning location.
