Shrewsbury market trader raises funds for Nepal

A trader at Shrewsbury Market Hall is raising funds for victims of the Nepal quakes by holding workshops in the art of felt-making. Teresa Tant, who runs Colour4Felts in the Market Hall, is offering mini felt ball sessions for members of the public in exchange for donations to her appeal. She is raising funds for her felt suppliers and producers, including Felt Ball Rugs Nepal, with whom she works directly to stock her business.

Fundraising felting sessions are being held at the market on Fridays and Saturdays, between 12-1pm.

Teresa, who has a background in teaching, is also planning on expanding her initiative in the near future by offering creative workshops for local primary schools to further boost her cause.

Teresa said: "Having worked directly with suppliers and producers in Nepal I wanted to do something to help victims of the recent devastating earthquakes. By helping to raise funds for my suppliers and producers I will know exactly how and where the money will be spent. It will go direct to some of the people who need it most, to help rebuild their lives. They need all the support they can get."

To donate directly members of the public can also visit the GoGetFunding website and GoFundMe website.

Colour4Felts offers a range of unique felted gifts for all ages including artisan items made by Teresa, as well as handcrafted products from Nepal using traditional wet and dry felting techniques. For further information visit the Colour4Felts website.
