Shrewsbury open studios 2017

After a two-year break Shrewsbury Open Studio (#SYOS) is back for the first two weekends in June, when over thirty artists around Shrewsbury will open their studios to the public. Interested visitors are welcome to have a look at their work, ask questions and even buy themselves an original piece or two.

As well as private studios, a number of public venues will host some of the exhibitions. You will find displays at Participate Contemporary Artspace in Riverside shopping centre, the VAN Gallery in Shoplatch, the Market Hall and the Flaxmill Maltings.

The range of media and disciplines on offer among the participants is testimony to the rich Shropshire art scene, as the county is home to many talented professional artists. There surely must be something to suit everybody’s tastes and interests, with photography and sculpture, painting and pottery, textiles to jewellery and more.

The whole event is going to be launched on Friday 2nd June between 5 and 8pm at Participate Contemporary Artspace with an exhibition of all the artists taking part.

For more information on the artists, addresses of the studios and details of opening times visit shrewsburyopenstudios.co.uk or pick up a brochure in one of the usual distribution points in town.
