Shrewsbury's Mayor awarded special pen by independent shop

  • Pen being prepared at Write Here Shrewsbury for Mayor

Shrewsbury's out-going mayor received a special pen to mark his year in office. Miles Kenny, who recently completed his 12 months as the town's Mayor, was officially presented with the silver writing instrument on his last day in the role earlier this month.

John Hall, owner of pen shop Write Here, situated in Shrewsbury High Street, commissioned the gift from a traditional long-established English manufacturer and it was hand engraved with Shrewsbury's loggerheads motif.

"I thought it would be a fitting way to commemorate the Mayor's successful year in office and it was great that Miles and his wife Aurona were able to come into Write Here to see the pen being crafted in preparation for the presentation," John Hall said.
