Town Council launches new website

  • Shrewsbury Town Council new website with Web Orchard

A new website which will make it quicker and easier for residents to interact with the Town Council has officially launched to the public. The site has been redesigned by Shrewsbury-based company, The Web Orchard. The brief was to make the existing website simpler to use, and more responsive, ensuring that visitors will be able to find what they are looking for within a few clicks. The new look website has been built using modern technology so that it can be accessed from any digital device - PC, laptop, tablet or smart TV. Visit the new website here.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Alan Mosley said: "This new website is another step in fulfilling the pledges we made to residents following the 2013 local elections. The aim is to keep all residents better informed of what the Council is doing while providing two-way communication on important issues and concerns. It will enable us to be more responsive and able to consult widely. It's also a great asset to all those who live, work, visit and do business in the town. Many congratulations to our staff and Web Orchard for this great new facility."

Pete White, director at The Web Orchard said: "The Town Council website gave us some interesting challenges that we've enjoyed solving. Building the site on the Drupal 7 content management system gives the Council an excellent platform to easily maintain and grow the website over the coming years. It's been a pleasure to work with the Town Council staff and we've had a unique insight into what the Council does and how it works."

Suzi Wilkinson, Marketing & Promotions Officer for Shrewsbury Town Council added: "The Web Orchard have delivered a site that is not only much more responsive and easier to navigate, but one that is also more efficient. The new website has functions which will reduce admin time, encourage paperless use and speed up service response times. We have also been able to better integrate our social media platforms which will make for a more rounded communications experience."
