The Shrewsbury-based Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, which supports people with cancer throughout region, is holding a Christmas jumper day on December 8.

A HOST of famous voices are set to share humorous stories at a Yuletide event in aid of two worthy charities.

Bargain Hunt star Christina Trevanion and Terrence Hardiman – who played the Abbot of Shrewsbury in the Cadfael television series - are among those lined up alongside Tim Dutton who has starred in Midsummer Murders, Lewis etc and  Genevieve from Radio Shropshire to read festive stories as part of the Joy of Christmas event on Friday, December 8, at Shrewsbury Abbey.

The boy detective, made famous in children’s literary favourites such as Enid Blyton’s Famous Five, is the focus of a new book written by a lecturer at University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS).

The Boy Detective in Early British Children’s Literature: Patrolling the Borders between Boyhood and Manhood by Dr Lucy Andrew was released last month.

History student Holly-Elizabeth Smith was presented with the Shining Star Adult accolade at the 2017 Dyslexia Awards on Saturday (November 25, 2017).

A second year science student at University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS) has been recognised for his outstanding achievements during his first 12 months at the institution.

Max Yates is studying Medical Genetics, one of several popular Bachelor of Science (BSc) single honours programmes run by Chester Medical School at UCS.

Max was presented with the Michael Davie Research Foundation (MDRF) Award for best overall accomplishment in Life Sciences during the first year of studies.

A University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS) student has been shortlisted for an award celebrating the strengths and achievements of people with Dyslexia.

History student Holly-Elizabeth Smith is a finalist in a Shining Star category of the 2017 Dyslexia Awards.

The Shropshire-wide Dyslexia Awards aim to raise awareness by celebrating the positive aspects of Dyslexia.

The Hive in Shrewsbury is excited to announce the appointment of its new CEO; Katie Jennings, who began the role on November 13th.

Having formerly worked for the Hive as Programmes and Projects Manager for 12 years and previously for other arts organisations in Shrewsbury and Bristol, Katie has a lot of experience in the arts and charity sector, as well as an in depth understanding of the Hive as an organisation and its work in the local community.

Two well-known Shropshire organisations have joined forces to support the first national initiative to offer an ethical shopping alternative to Black Friday.

Resale and recycling social enterprise Reviive along with Severn Hospice will be promoting Buy Nothing New Day on Friday 24 November. In addition Reviive will be offering a ten percent discount to all[jc1]  customers purchasing from either of its outlets in Oswestry and Shrewsbury.

A Shropshire businessman has helped to develop an exclusive limited edition fountain pen - in partnership with Italian designers.

John Hall, who owns Write Here in Shrewsbury’s High Street, is thought to be the only pen shop proprietor in the country to have undertaken such a venture.
