The sixth annual Shrewsbury River Festival will be taking place on Sunday 10th September 2017, in the Quarry Park and on the River Severn.

Come and enjoy a fantastic day of family fun, while at the same time learning about water safety awareness. Fancy dress (theme soon to be announced) is encouraged, both on land and on the boats. The Festival will feature various races and demonstrations on the river, canoeing, coracles, local independent craft stalls, children's fancy dress and other competitions, as well as live entertainment.

Since his youth, local businessman the late Graham Galliers was always passionate about improving access to the river for everyone, therefore benefiting the local tourist economy. One of the initial driving forces behind the Shrewsbury River Festival, Graham felt that the fun family event was a fantastic way of introducing people of all ages to the many facets of the river.

Entry to the Shrewsbury River Festival is free due to the hardworking committee of volunteers, independent stallholders and local supporters and sponsors based in the town.

Pengwern Boat Club, founded in 1871, is located in Shrewsbury Town Centre, Shropshire, in a picturesque river-side setting. The current clubhouse was built in 1881 and is undoubtedly one the most attractive in the UK.
