The Shrewsbury Steam Rally showcases over 1000 exhibits at its annual steam engine and vintage vehicle rally, taking place at Onslow Park, Shrewsbury on the August Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday.

There’s a full programme in the Main Arena each day; vintage tractors on the move, convoys of historic commercial vehicles, vintage cycles and perambulators, pre and post World War 2 cars, veteran cars, classic motorcycles and steam cars. The highlight is the unmissable Grand Parade - Steam Engines with nostalgic music and poetry.

The popular heavy horses also take their turn in the arena, as well as the of Birds of Prey demonstration by Hawksdrift Falconry (as seen on TVs Dragons Den).

When they’re not in the Main Arena, most of the exhibits are on static display for closer inspection, but many are working displays too. There are oil engines, miniature steam engines, military vehicles... and many more!

The exhibitors breathe new life into the past, and the golden age of Victorian farming is captured on the Working Field with shire horses and superb historic tractors. Demonstrations from harvesting with reaper binders, to chaff cutting and hammer milling, with many early tractors, rare implements and machinery. The Challenger tractor pulling team are also on-site for an exciting tractor pulling demonstration.

Visitors can take a journey back in time, as we turn the clock back on Victorian farming in the beautiful landscape of Onslow Park.

There’s an olde time fairground and organs, a crafts & hobbies marquee and of course a bar and plenty of catering stands. And if you’ve still got time to spare, there are acres of trade stands to go looking for a bargain.

On-site camping and caravanning is pre-book only – more info and booking details available via the website.

‘Steam Ahead’ online ticket sales also available via the website.
