The Quarry Park

The Quarry is Shrewsbury's beautiful, 29-acre parkland, encircled by the majestic loop of the river Severn. The Quarry has been Shrewsbury's most important site for recreation since the 16th Century. It still provides the perfect place to relax, enjoy walks, picnic, fish along the banks of the River Severn, or just let off steam.

Mardol

The Shrewsbury Hotel is located opposite the Welsh Bridge and River Severn. It is a J D Wetherspoon hotel, offering superb quality, choice and value, in food, drink and accommodation. The hotel has 22 individual bedrooms, many with a river view. All rooms are en-suite and include hot drink making facilities, a hair dryer and television. Free Wi-Fi is available in the bar.

The Square

Shrewsbury Square is at the heart of the town and remains an important space for the people of the town.

The Old Market Hall Cinema stands in the centre, housed in the town's original Market Hall, which was built in 1596, replacing the previous Market House, which was built in 1260.

Fish Street

The Three Fishes is a CAMRA approved pub with a cosy, friendly atmosphere, which provides a warm welcome to anybody. The timber building, dating from the 16th century, has great character and charm. The Three Fishes offers a fantastic selection of traditional, home-cooked foods, real ales and fine wines.

14 Claremont Street

The Town Fryer is a friendly fish and chip shop, situated opposite the market hall in Claremont Street. As well as the old favourite fish and chips, there is a good selection of delicious and satisfying food, including kebabs, burgers, sausages and pies. There is plenty of seating upstairs, so customers can eat in or takeaway. Staff provide a warm welcome and excellent service.

14a The Square

The Wightman is a multi purpose venue that hosts a rich variety of events, including arts, exhibitions, concerts and productions. Originally the site of the Fox Inn, the hall was established by Julia Wightman, a leading Temperance advocate in the 19th century. The hall opened in April 1863, as a Working Men's Hall providing a drink-free alternative to the public house.
