Smithfield Road

Situated alongside the River Severn, the Salopian Bar is a unique establishment, offering a great selection of real ales, Belgian beers and ciders, served in a relaxed, contemporary atmosphere. There are eight ales permanently on sale, and the pub holds two real ale festivals each year. There are also three Belgian Beers on draught and a good choice of bottled American and Belgian Beers.

Mardol

The Shrewsbury Hotel is located opposite the Welsh Bridge and River Severn. It is a J D Wetherspoon hotel, offering superb quality, choice and value, in food, drink and accommodation. The hotel has 22 individual bedrooms, many with a river view. All rooms are en-suite and include hot drink making facilities, a hair dryer and television. Free Wi-Fi is available in the bar.

Shrewsbury Square is at the heart of the town and remains an important space for the people of the town.

The Old Market Hall Cinema stands in the centre, housed in the town's original Market Hall, which was built in 1596, replacing the previous Market House, which was built in 1260.

Fish Street

The Three Fishes is a CAMRA approved pub with a cosy, friendly atmosphere, which provides a warm welcome to anybody. The timber building, dating from the 16th century, has great character and charm. The Three Fishes offers a fantastic selection of traditional, home-cooked foods, real ales and fine wines.

14 Claremont Street

The Town Fryer is a friendly fish and chip shop, situated opposite the market hall in Claremont Street. As well as the old favourite fish and chips, there is a good selection of delicious and satisfying food, including kebabs, burgers, sausages and pies. There is plenty of seating upstairs, so customers can eat in or takeaway. Staff provide a warm welcome and excellent service.

The Vaults is a pub and hotel on Castle Street, a short distance from the train station.

14a The Square

The Wightman is a multi purpose venue that hosts a rich variety of events, including arts, exhibitions, concerts and productions. Originally the site of the Fox Inn, the hall was established by Julia Wightman, a leading Temperance advocate in the 19th century. The hall opened in April 1863, as a Working Men's Hall providing a drink-free alternative to the public house.

Founded in 1981, The Works is a family friendly discount retailer, with over 300 stores all over the UK. It offers great value discount gifts, art, craft, hobbies, toys and stationery, as well as the books and children's books that make up a large part of its range.

12 Mardol Head

The York Roast Co serve the best quality hand carved hot roast meat sandwiches with various fillings. They also serve Yorkshire Pudding meals with either meat, veg and roast potatoes or with just veg with roast potatoes to eat in or take away.

2 St Marys Place

Situated in the shadow of St Marys Church, the Yorkshire House is a friendly and traditional pub offering a great selection of real ales. The Grade II listed building has low ceilings and old-fashioned wood panelling, as well as some fascinating artefacts. There is regular live music, and a jukebox with a fantastic choice of rock and metal songs.

If entering on the street side, look out for the old chapel building which is embedded between the Stage Door and public entrance. It now houses the stalls level Chapel Bar which doubles as exhibition space.
